South African Army SADF Canvas Backpack new. This listing is for a South African Army Canvas Backpack, (1970 pattern)known as a Grootsak in Africans,as issued and used by the South African Military, during the 1970’s up until the introduction of the nylon/cordura kit in the mid 80’s. This one is brand new and never been used,Made of Heavy duty canvas material it has solid metal fittings, (D-rings and clips)it is designed to be used with military webbing webbing system which in turn would carry water bottles, ammo and other small items.It has straps for adding a sleeping bag/roll and tarp on he top and bottom,Approximate internal measurements are 33 x 30 x 9 cm.backpack capacity is maybe 15L (that’s a estimate).
